Dedicated clinic

The Carpal Tunnel Clinic

Numb, tingling hands waking you at night? Our dedicated clinic offers a streamlined pathway: take the online symptom test, book an assessment, and — where surgery is indicated — carpal tunnel release as a day procedure.

Take the Online Test Book an Assessment

1. Take the test

Nine symptom questions. A guide to whether your symptoms fit carpal tunnel syndrome — a screening guide to discuss at your appointment.

2. Assessment

Your assessment is with Dr Melissa Gilbert, who runs the clinic. Nerve conduction studies are arranged where needed to confirm the diagnosis.

3. Treatment that fits

From night splints and injections to carpal tunnel release. Where surgery is indicated, Dr Melsom confirms the diagnosis and performs the release — a 15–20 minute day procedure at Westside Private Hospital, Taringa.

Online carpal tunnel test

Complete all nine questions for the hand that troubles you most. For pregnancy and wrist splint use, choose “Not applicable” if you have not experienced pregnancy or have not tried a wrist splint, respectively.

This symptom screen uses the corrected Kamath–Stothard scoring, with plain-language wording. The published questionnaire has been studied clinically; this online adaptation has not been separately validated.

A score of 5 or more is a positive screen supporting clinical assessment. A lower score does not rule out carpal tunnel syndrome. The score does not measure severity or decide whether surgery is needed.
